Several years ago Gibraltar Perimeter Security saw the need to develop a new product line of lower speed impact tested bollards for use in residential and commercial spaces. Over 100 incidents per day occur where a vehicle crashes into a c-store, gas station, restaurant, drug store or strip mall, according to data compiled by the Storefront Safety Council. These types of bollards are ASTM F3016-19 crash test certified to stop a 5,000lbs surrogate vehicle (Dodge Ram Quad Cab Pickup Truck) traveling at speeds of 30mph or less without allowing the vehicle to penetrate more than 12” from the impact side of the front bumper. These bollards provide a more cost-effective solution than our high-security bollards, but provide facility and pedestrian protection from accidental or intentional low speed impacts from vehicles.
